After a bout with the flu and torrential rains, the weekend turned itself around.
The Delgado Brothers and family celebrated three - count 'em - three birthdays with a concert. And not just any concert. If I wasn't already married to the birthday boy, I would have thrown myself at his feet after his rendition of Donny Hathaway's "More Than You'll Ever Know". Of course, I had to share the dedication with my daughter Sara and my best friend Gina, but there was enough music to go around.
Happy Birthday, Tbo D, Sue City Sue and Lisa Magee!
Sunday dawned bright and clear - perfect weather for the Pasadena City College Flea Market! Gina was dedicated to holding back my wilder acquisition urges (no I DIDN'T buy any more poker chips!). But I found some lovely things and had a great day.
I see a color theme here, perhaps. I may be too predictable, but I do love these warm honey tones. I'm very excited about the three cylinder boxes. They're perfect for drill bits, sewing needles and little bits and bobs.
For those who care about the name on the envelope, Mrs. Howell was apparently the mother of Ms. Louise, who was promoted from the 4th to the 5th grade in an unnamed year. But most of the report cards in this envelope are for Ms. Dorothy, who appears to have been a middling student in grades 7-10. Perhaps Louise changed her name from shame. The report cards are fun and I'll post them later.
Other goodies included two old ledger books and some necessary but not very photogenic tools. I'm saving the rest of my money for the Long Beach Flea Market on the 21st. Gina will be out of town, so I can go WILD! I will try to show some restraint for her sake, but I can't make any promises.
